  • Italian Language and Culture Studies Conference
  •  Recent Additions to School Districts offering Italian
  • Italian Language Summer Camp

The mission of Laziali nel Mondo is to promote the appreciation for the beautiful Italian language and culture in our Capital District.  One of its main goals is to encourage educational programs that introduce the teaching of Italian. We strive to keep updated by attending conferences that give workshops on programs and grants that are available to the public so that we can pass on this information to our members.      Recently, six members of LNM attended the Italian Language and Culture studies Conference held at the Italian Consulate in NYC. Information and discussions concerning the importance of teaching Italian were presented by a panel consisting of representatives of the Consulate General of Italy; the Italian American Committee on Education (IACE); the Italian Language Foundation (ILF); and the American Association of Teachers of Italian (AATI).      Matilda Raffa Cuomo (ILF Chairperson) and her daughter Dr. Margaret Cuomo (President of ILF), along with Francesco M. Talò (the Consul General of Italy in New York) encouragingly spoke of the growing popularity of Italian courses and the fact that the Italian government has pledged to give monetary grants to promote the teaching of Italian.

ITALIAN LANGUAGE SUMMER CAMP: CORSO ESTIVO PER BAMBINI

Laziali nel Mondo is dedicated to the teaching of Italian.  Our annual  Italian Language Summer Camp is extremely successful!  Directed by Lisa Alonzi, this summer camp offers three weeks of Italian lessons and relevant activities for children.  The language instruction is offered by 3-4 New York State Certified teachers. Our exciting activities include: cooking, singing, arts and crafts, soccer, pasta or pizza making, etc. These activities are used to reinforce Italian phrases and vocabulary that are introduced in the language section of this camp. This past summer we had an enrollment of 87 children which has prompted us to consider offering an additional week for this coming summer!  Make sure to check our website’s Events Calendar,  on a regular basis, to view up to date information on our upcoming Summer camp.
